Effect of sulphur, zinc and boron on the growth and yield enhancement of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

Oilseed crops grown in different types of soil experience nutrient deficiency, especially sulphur, zinc and boron, which affect crop productivity. To tackle it, management practices must be streamlined to avoid improper fertilizations deterioration health. With this background, experimental trials were conducted study the effect boron application on growth, yield components hybrid sunflower at AyanAthur village, Ariyalur district (TN) during summer seasons 2016 2017. The experiments laid out Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. growth (plant height, leaf area index, dry matter production, duration (LAD) analysis parameters such as rate (CGR), relative rate(RGR), net assimilation rate(NAR) chlorophyll content, seed significantly (level significance P>0.05) influenced by foliar 0.5% Zn bud initiation stage formation B @ 0.3% ray floret along S(sulphur) 40 kg ha-1 RDF(recommended dose fertilizers) a application. Growth responded very little RDF alone. From both results, we found that 0.5%and S recorded highest percentage production (44.4%), number filled seeds (30.1%) (32.4%) sunflower.
